Mrs. Silvey's Kindergarten Class: Get to know Mrs. Silvey

Hi there,

My name is Mrs. Silvey and I am a Kindergarten teacher at Reed Elementary. This is my 14th year teaching Kindergarten but I will have worked at Reed Elementary since 2011. I am very excited to be working with our wonderful Kindergarten team and in the Reed community.

You may be asking yourself, "Who is Mrs. Silvey?" Well, to better answer that question I will tell you a few things about myself. I graduated from Truman State University with my Bachelors degree in Psychology and Masters degree in Education. I come from a very tight knit family, where I am the youngest of four siblings, and the only girl. We are fortunate enough to spend lots of time together. My girls have some fun and wacky uncles, loving aunts, and adorable cousins, Joey, Summer and Liam. In addition, I love to spend time with my friends and of course my husband, Morgan, our three sweet girls, Olivia (11), Logan (9) and Lennon (almost 6). Your kiddos will hear many stories about our fun-loving girls. This summer, we spent our days going to the beach, going to our Innsbrook house, swimming, exploring all of the hot spots in St. Louis, playing outside, baking, reading books, and having dance parties. I am a big reader! I will read anything you put in front of me and especially love reading in the sunshine! I love working out and challenging myself. We love to travel (this summer included Anna Maria Island and Couer d'Alene). I like to try my hand at cooking and baking; mostly baking though, because I LOVE sweets (a little too much)! I also have a love of online shopping (WAY too much). And last, but certainly not least, I love kids! I love their smiles. I love their stories. I love having a hand in their growth and helping them showcase their talents. And I love learning with them and from them. So basically, I have the best job ever!
