Happy Halloween

We had a fun and spooky week! Here are some of the important things we learned...

We explored Halloween themed centers this week! We found halloween pictures and wrote the words, practicing stretching out the sounds we here.  We read and sorted Halloween power words and played CVC games.

We learned the letters and sounds for Zz, Xx, and Yy. We practiced two new power words: or and for. We worked on blending and segmenting sounds and isolating ending sounds.

In Writing, we wrote stories with the power word "see".  We practiced writing from left to write with spaces between each word. We used our word wall to write more words in our stories.

During Reading, we read the story Gossie and made text to self connections.  We worked on retelling to build comprehension and understanding.  We practiced echo reading to build concepts of print and oral fluency. Our vocabulary words were search, heartbroken, energetic, and enjoy.

Our Math lessons this week focused on comparing numbers using "more than" and "fewer than".

We started learning about continents and oceans in Social Studies. Ask your child to tell you what the names of them are and if they can find any of them on a world map.  We will be shifting over to Science next week and will be revisiting our Social Studies unit in a few weeks.

We watch our first play titled Carmella Full of Wishes. We also had our first Reed School Family Time. Ask your child to tell you all about these fun activities!

We wrapped up our bullying unit in Second Steps by talking about bystander power.

Halloween Party pictures coming soon!
