We learned the letters and sounds for Zz, Xx, and Yy. We practiced two new power words: or and for. We worked on blending and segmenting sounds and isolating ending sounds.
In Writing, we wrote stories with the power word "see". We practiced writing from left to write with spaces between each word. We used our word wall to write more words in our stories.
During Reading, we read the story Gossie and made text to self connections. We worked on retelling to build comprehension and understanding. We practiced echo reading to build concepts of print and oral fluency. Our vocabulary words were search, heartbroken, energetic, and enjoy.
We continued our Math lessons this week focused on sorting data and comparing numbers. We modeled with math to make equal groups to solve a problem.
In our first Second Step lesson, we are learning the importance of following directions to help us be successful learners. We are practicing listening carefully, watching the speaker, and following directions one step at a time. We are learning that following directions helps keep our classroom safe, organized, and ready for learning. You can reinforce these skills at home by giving children simple, clear directions and encouraging them to listen carefully and complete each step.
