This week we learned about the life cycle of a frog. Here are some of the other important things we learned...
Our centers this week included sequencing the life cycle of a frog, finding, reading and writing words with silent e and long vowels, writing words with blends, playing various learning games, and writing what we've learned about frogs.
In Phonics, we worked on the long o and long u sounds. We continued learning about silent e and learned the power word "use". We built words with long vowels and read a story called My Dog Duke.
We learned more about temperature during Science and talked about the difference in temperature in the sun and in the shade. We experimented with thermometers on the playground and charted temperatures in our Science workbooks.
In Reading, we listened to and discussed a book about dolphins. We wondered about dolphins and used text features to build knowledge and locate information in our book. We looked at the glossary, index, table of contents, diagrams, and bold words. We reviewed the -ful (full of) suffix during vocabulary and learned the words pointy, diet, playful and active.
We started a new Math unit and will be focusing on numbers to 100 for the last few weeks of Kindergarten. This week, we looked at numbers 21-50 and practiced reading, writing, and counting.
We wrapped up our opinion unit this week! We are excited to start how-to stories next week!
We continued talking about being mindful this week. Mindfulness resources can be found here: Mindfulness Resources
