Another short but busy week in KS! Here are some of the important things we learned...
Our centers this week included reading and writing CVC words, sequencing and reading The Itsy Bitsy Spider, playing CVC games, and writing the power words "I see".
In Phonics this week, we worked on the letters and sounds for Ww, Jj, and Ee. We learned two new power words: to and do. We continued blending and segmenting and isolating beginning and ending sounds.
During Reading, we listened to and discussed the story Josie's Lost Tooth. We continued to make text-to-self connections to relate the story to our own lives. We revisited songs and poems that we have learned and found power words in the poems in our poem book. We learned new vocabulary words: sneak, persistent, imitate, and champion.
We continued to learn about comparing lengths, heights, and weights during Math. We will wrap up this unit soon and will start our next unit on comparing numbers in the coming days. W
We practiced writing "I like" and "I like to" sentences during Writing. We worked on writing left to right, leaving spaces between words, and capitalizing the first word in our sentence. We are focusing on tapping out sounds we hear in words and recording each sound on paper.
Our Second Steps lesson taught us how to good a good bystander and how to help when we see someone is being bullied. Ask your child to tell you how they can be a good bystander.
