We have had a fun week reading fairytales! Here are some of the important things we learned...
We visited fairytale centers this week! We listened to fairy tales and discussed story elements, wrote and read silent e words, practiced reading real and nonsense words, and found and wrote fairytale pictures around the room. We worked on reading and writing sight words and words with blends and silent e. We read books assigned to us that focused on skills we are working on in our reading groups.
We read through various passages together during Shared Reading, finding high frequency words and blends/digraphs. We continued reading with partners and independently and focused on reading fluently.
We continued counting and writing numbers to 100 and revisiting addition and subtraction during Math and will continue to do so in these final weeks.
In Phonics, we continued to work on long vowels and the letter "Y" as a vowel. We learned that "y" makes a long e or long i sound and can be used as a vowel. We read and wrote power words with long vowels including by, my, go, so, no, me, he, be, and we.
We continued working on our Science unit on the sun and shade and finding temperatures.

Science- talking about thermometers and comparing them in warm water vs cold water.
