Insects Week

This week, we learned about insects! Here are some of the important things we talked about...

Our centers this week included talking about what makes an insect and insect (three body parts, six legs), reading and writing power words, spelling words with silent e endings, writing about what makes us grouchy like The Grouchy Ladybug, and other various activities.

We continued working on writing and solving subtractions problems in Math. Please continue working with your child on subtracting...this is very tricky for us!

In Reading, we listened to and discussed a book about the Moon.  We used the table of contents to preview the book and practiced wondering about the topic. We looked and diagrams and labels to help us build knowledge and purpose. Our vocabulary words this week included overhead, visible, face, and rough.

We are continuing to work during Writing about our opinions on various topics and trying to be convincing with our reasons.

During Phonics, we continued our work on reading and writing power words and CVCe words.

Our Mystery Reader this week was Ellery's mom, which was perfect since it was Ellery's birthday!!! So exciting!

Look at these grouchy ladybugs! We made our own ladybugs and wrote about what we do to feel better when we feel grouchy
