We had a busy week learning about the mail and the Post Office! Here are some of the important things we learned...
Our centers this week included various blends and digraphs games, activities that focused on blends, writing letters to our friends, learning about the Post Office and how the mail starts in one place and ends in another, finding CVCC words around our classroom and writing them, sorting words by digraphs, and reading books on RAZKids!
During Reading, we listened to and discussed part of an expository nonfiction book about school. We worked on answering comprehension questions. We talked about a table of contents and used pictures and captions to build knowledge about our topic. We continued reading our power words as well.
In Writing, we listened to nonfiction books and used our senses to write facts about foods. We wrote and drew two page books and worked on punctuation at the ends of our sentences.
We decided to extend our previous Math unit and wrapped up our numbers to 20 unit this week. We are excited to start working on addition facts in the coming weeks!
We continued tapping out sounds in CVC words and words with blends during Phonics. We learned when to use c vs k. See if your child can remind you of the rule.
Global Day of Play was so much fun! We had a great time playing together!
Our Mystery Reader on Tuesday was Jack's mommy. Thank you for coming and giving us some midweek fun
